Groundhog day

In southeastern Pennsylvania, if you speak English instead of a Pennsylvania German dialect, you have to pay a coin per word, usually by putting it into a bowl in the center of the table.

The celebration is a tradition that signifies whether winter will last for six more weeks or not depending on if the groundhog that emerges from his burrow sees his shadow and retreats back in!

Congratulations, Shawn. Yes, we were referring to Grounghog Day, which falls on February 2 and is celebrated in parts of the U.S. and Canada. The next question: Will the groundhog see its shadow this year?

Shawn - Send your tee shirt size and your address to admissions@jhubc.it, and it's on its way.
